NORWEGIAN FARRIER CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 

Norwegian Barefoot trim championship

Time: 15 minutes, 1 foot to be trimmed.

1st heat: Left front

2nd heat: Right front

3rd heat: Left hind

4th heat: Right hind

Rules for trimming at the barefoot championship:

1) The welfare of the horse is of most importance

2) We are to consider the job of the horse when trimming and our aim is to keep it

as comfortable as possible

In the competition the judges will go through each hoof with each competitor and

explain how they want it to be trimmed, what sort of balance to aim for in the foot

and how much foot they want left on to best be able to perform.

Each competitor will be given one point per foot. In that point each part will be

assessed: Cleaning of sole, bars and frog. Levelness. Balance of the hoof including

mediolateral and dorsopalmar balance. Shaping of the hoof after the shape of the

sole, including the shaping of the wall. Correct amount of hoof and sole trimmed.

2) På samme måte som når man møter hesten hjemme på stallen, skal jobben og livet til hesten

være avgjørende ved faglige valg.

I konkurransen er det dommerene som forklarer hvordan den skal verkes, hvilken balanse og

hvor mye hov hesten skal ha etter verking for å best mulig utføre jobben sin.

Det gis ett poeng pr fot. I det poenget er det vurdert: Opprensking av såle, sålehjørnene, stråle.

Planhet. Balanse etter aksene, mediolateral og dorsopalmar. Forming av hoven etter såleform,

herunder også forming av hovvegg. Riktig mengde hov og såle verket bort. Ikke for mye, ikke for

lite.
